Hello world! Welcome to thesis!
The world of the MFA CDT thesis is under way and days after spring classes are over, work on my thesis year has begun.
Since 2005 I’ve been immersed in the Heart Gallery project – www.heartgallerynj.org – a non-profit I co-founded with Assistant Managing Editor for Photography at the Newark Star Ledger, Pim Van Hemmen. It’s only since starting my two year MFA journey in the Parsons, Communication, Design & Technology program in 2007 that I’ve come to truly understand how much more than still photographs and written bios can be incorporated to help these orphans find permanent homes.
Social media including sms, twitter, facebook, blogs and audio, video, web sites, interactivity and so many more ways to reach these kids and help them before it’s too late.
I’ll be meeting tomorrow with staff from Covenant House in Newark, NJ http://www.covenanthousenj.org/ a non-profit helping homeless kids for the first time. Many former foster kids end up homeless and some luckily are being helped at Covenant House.
Not sure where it will all lead but the journey begins!
